Github Forces

We have repurposed slack as the command center of how we go about things in the operations side of things. The main purpose of github is to have a central place for information about the operations and applications within the network.

Order

The main purpose of GitHub is to make sense of everything that is happening in the ProgCode slack. To bring order to the chaos that Slack has presented. As such, we bring forth important information / updates from Slack to Github, to make the onboarding and even re-onboarding process as smoothly as possible.

Pilot Program

In order to cultivate the push-pull culture, we have created the Pilot Program to facilitate all the efforts being done for the good of the community. Anyone can add on to the pilot program, and it’s divided according to functions. It is public as well, in order to provide transparency and allow people to see all the things that we are doing within and outside of slack.

We have repurposed the Github Projects mechanism to visualize all the efforts happening within the network, all of which grouped by functions.

Project Lists

The project lists provide a glimpse of the projects that are currently ongoing. This is also repurposed to visualize all the projects happening in the ProgCode community slack. The assignees are the project coordinators assigned to the project from the ProgCode side (with the blessing of the app creator), while the comments section provides space for updating the project. The project information is taken from the Chi Hack Night format.

Documentation

We use the GitHub wiki for all the knowledge and information we want stored in a more permanent place. This will allow any new folks to peruse everything about the community at their own leisure, driving transparency forward.
